Here are a few resources that you may find useful.
FTP Client
Software One of the most used items in your
toolbox is a good FTP client. An FTP client is a piece of
software that allows you to publish your web pages from your
personal computer to your hosting provider. There are
many choices available. Some cost money and some are
free. All FTP clients have the same basic features, but
each has a few bells and whistles that the other doesn't.
I own different FTP clients including WS_FTP, CuteFTP and
Filezilla. Each has features that I like. WS_FTP is
probably the one I use the most often and is a commercial
product. However, I would recommend you try one of the
free or open source FTP clients, especially when first starting
out. Filezilla is a very professionally done open source
FTP client and will give you all the basic features you need
and then some. Here is the link.

Programming
Tutorials
When you are first starting out, you may need some
instructional training on a few of the various technologies you
will be working with. Maybe you want to learn about MySQL
databases or programming in PHP or Perl. Here is one of
the best training sites available on the net and it's 100%
free.

SQL Training
Here is another very good site if you want to learn SQL.
